I got this vest in dark olive for my son. He’s five years old and usually wears a 5 in shirts and a 6 in pants (If you know, you know. The struggle is real). I got a size small in hope that it would last him a couple of cold seasons. Here are my thoughts:What’s nice:The color matches the listing photo. The vest is well made with secure seams and the fleece is soft and warm. The zipper is smooth and easy for my son to do on his own. It washes and dries well so far, and I generally don’t baby my children’s laundry; it gets warm or hot water as needed and dries completely in my electric dryer.What’s not:The vest did shrink a tiny bit in the wash, enough that I noticed the different fit on my son. It was loose and a little long on him before and now it fits him better. I thought that was odd, because the vest material is 100% polyester. Additionally, it fits a bit slimmer than the listing images suggest, especially after washing. That’s fine for my son but might not work for every build. Because of that, I’d suggest considering sizing up if your child is teetering between sizes or if you want a little extra wear like I did.Bottom line: Decent vest. My son likes it. I’d get it again. Recommended with slight qualification.

A basic vest, but it's really soft and the color is great! My son wanted the dark olive color and it's just as pictured. The zipper is smooth and there are two pockets on the front sides. It's going to be a great addition to his fall/winter wardrobe. He can wear it with a long sleeved shirt and it will provide an extra level of warmth under his jacket. The fit is a little slimmer than I expected. I did order up a size and it's still tight on my son's hips and tummy. It's wearable, just snug. I'm hoping that it will stretch a little as he wears them. The fleece material is thick enough to provide warmth without being bulky or overheating. And the price is good, too.

I ordered this fleece vest for my spaghetti thin high school daughter even though the sizes are for kids. I had previously gotten her this same Amazon Essentials vest in black in a women's size small. The sage green color was so pretty that I decided to take the risk and try getting a kid's size. I am glad that I did. The kid's size XXL fits great and is roughly the same size as the women's small. For reference my daughter is 5'-3" tall and about 100 lbs. The measurements for the vest when laid flat are as follows: across the shoulders = 14.5", armpit to armpit = 19", hem at hip = 17.5", and back length not including the collar = 25".The vest is made of mid to light weight polar fleece. The arm holes and lower hem are cased in color matched hem binding. The zipper is metal with plastic teeth and has a thin ribbon on the pull tab. The pockets are just open with no zippers. The way the pockets are sewn actually gives you two unofficial inside pockets on the back side of the outside pockets. Or maybe that is intentional? Either way, the inside pockets are a great place to store your phone. I really like these Amazon Essentials vests.

The zipper feels smooth and sturdy, and the pull tab makes it easy for my 1st grader to zip and unzip the vest on his own.The sizing is true to fit. My son would have fit comfortably in a small, but I went up a size so he can hopefully get a couple of seasons of use out of it. It still fits nicely without looking overly big on him.I think this vest will be especially useful for school in the fall as an alternative to a jacket, and it can also work as an extra layer during the colder winter months.
